about

In 2015, I was asked to provide music for a play that set Quentin Tarantino's movie "Pulp Fiction" in Elizabethan times. The dialog had all been re-written in Shakespearean language. The concept we developed for the music was simple: a group of musicians in 1599 try to play garage rock from the 1960s on the Renaissance instruments available to them.

I brought in two of Chicago's best players, Justin Amolsch and Airan Wright, to play the period brass and woodwind instruments, and together we recorded nine songs from the "Pulp Fiction" soundtrack over three sessions at my home studio.

Justin and Airan perform in Ravenswood Winds (ravenswoodwinds.com/about/), playing modern rock music in classical styles. I hope you'll check them out!

Enjoy!
